The following mineral specimens are a selection from the Collection of Peter Rosewarne.

Peter recently retired as a Partner with an international natural resources organization - SRK Consulting. His interest in minerals began in high school, where he learned basics of geology and continued his education at Kingston University, London, UK majoring in mineralogy and igneous petrology. He graduated with a BSc Honors Degree in Geology in 1974.

Peter emigrated to South Africa in 1975, where he continued his interest in minerals while branching out career-wise into the field of Groundwater Management.

Peter's full fledged collecting bug was triggered by the discovery, in 2007, of the many mineral specimen wonders shown on internet mineral dealer sites. His collecting from that point resulted in a suite of about 950 pieces. His favorites include garnet, tourmaline, dioptase, vanadinite, pyromorphite, wulfenite, fluorite and smithsonite, but his collection also includes a broader range of other specimens from localities around the world. Peter recently decided to downsize his collection allowing the specimens on this page to be offered for sale to other collectors, with possibly more to come in future updates.

Apatite Crystals in Calcite
Slyudyanka, Lake Baikal Area, Siberia, Russia
15 x 12 x 6.5 cm
Very aesthetic specimen with large, hexagonal, translucent teal-blue Apatite crystals (to 6.7 cm) on both sides of the Calcite matrix.
In very good condition. Probably the best of its type we have seen.

Superb translucent Calcite "Rose" on Siderite and Pyrite and in pristine condition. No longer are these gorgeous specimens coming out of the now closed Romanian mines. This specimen is even better in person.
Barite Crystal Cluster on Matrix
Rosh Pinah Mine, Luderitz District, Karas Region, Namibia
10.7 x 8 x 8 cm

A striking and beautiful fan-shaped spray of very glassy, chisel-pointed, golden-amber Barite crystals. Nearly pristine, with only one barely noticeable cleaved termination. Very fine specimen, which displays nicely in both directions.
Vanadinite Crystals on Barite
Mibladen, Midelt, Khénifra Province, Meknès-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
12 x 7 x 3.5 cm
Green Quartz (Prazym) on Andradite Garnet
Blue River, Dal'negorsk, 12 KM from Pavlovka Sikohote-Alin Mountains, Far East Russia
14 x 8 x 8 cm
Excellent specimen of Green Quartz (Prazym) on dark red Andradite Garnet with great presentation from all sides. The green color of the Quartz is due to inclusions of Hedenbergite. In nearly pristine condition with only one barely noticeable broken crystal.
 Calcite Roses on Siderite
Turt Mine, Satu Mare, Maramures, Romania
  9.5 x 6.5 x 5 cm
Stibnite Crystal Cluster with Barite & Calcite

Ludlamite Crystals with Quartz
Huanuni Mine, Huanuni, Dalence, Oruro, Bolivia
6 x 4 x 2.5 cm
A terrific specimem of apple green sprays of lustrous Ludlamite crystals. It has excellent crystal definition. In fine condition. We do not recall seeing another as good as this one. Ludlamite is named for Henry Ludlam, a British collector of fine rare minerals.
Apatite Crystals on Albite

7.5 x 6 x 3.5 cm
Beautiful display of dark green hexagonal Apatite crystals (up to 1.5 cm) on white Albite matrix. In fine condition.
Danburite Crystals with Muscovite
Mina Aurora, Charcas, St. Luis Potosi, Mexico
15 x 10 x 4 cm
Two translucent crystals of Danburite with light pink coloring adorned with green Muscovite. Both crystals are double terminated, but the left crystal appears to be re-healed on the bottom. Is essentially in pristine condition. Hard to find a nice piece like this one these days.
Fluorite Crystal Cluster
Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo Region, Karibib District, Namibia, Africa
8 x 7 x 2 cm

This Okorusu Fluorite specimen has a dark orange color with blackish coloring at some of the crystal corners. Nicely translucent and in good condition. Availability of Okorusu Fluorites at major mineral shows has dramatically declined over the last two years.
