This is an Azurite from a new find at Malbunka Copper Mine, Areyonga, Northern Territory, Australia. This one is very attractive large electric blue rosette cluster on white clay matrix, providing a stunning contrast.
The Malbunka Copper Mine produced Azurites about 30 years ago, and they are now recovering new specimens found in layers in a two meter seam which occurs at the top of the deposit.
Metaphysical properties: Azurite is called the "stone of heaven." It promotes psychic awareness, psychic skills and abilities, enhances intuition, and is believed to guide one to be accurate in depicting psychic experiences. It is also an excellent stone for meditation, allowing one easily enter a meditative state. Azurite can enhance prophesy and divination. It is said to aid control energy flow and bring just the right amount of energy to any situation.
"During the Middle Ages and Renaissance, Azurite was the most important pigment in European painting, Occasional use began in Fourth Dynasty Egypt (ca. 2575-2467 BCE), but it was uncommon until the Middle Ages when the manufacture of the ancient synthetic pigment "Egyptian blue" was forgotten. Replaced when "Prussian blue" was discovered in the 18th century." (Click here for source reference).
There is Muscovite and then there is this Muscovite !!
What an incredible light lime green to yellow green color. It is almost iridescent. Thousands of delicate Muscovite crystals with pearly luster not tightly formed in "books," but blossoming out in all directions. What a beauty !
The name of Muscovite comes from Muscovy-glass, a name formerly used for the mineral because of its use in Russia for windows.
Metaphysical properties: Muscovite is a stone of heavenly contact, and can bring awareness of one's higher self. Muscovite is also good for reducing insecurities, self-doubt, and helping improve self-confidence and optimism. Muscovite is considered helpful for problem-solving, self-reflection, and dealing with major life changes.
A beautiful specimem of light blue Anhydrite with two blades perfectly tilted opposite to each other. Even though Anhydrite is a very common mineral, collector quality specimens like this one are far from common. In fact they are rare.
An attractive mass of hexagonal, pearly white, lustrous Tarnowitzite crystals on matrix. Tarnowitzite is a lead-rich variety of Aragonite.
Very rare, lustrous and partially gemmy, emerald green Chromium Diopside crystal (3.2 cm) in a Chromium Diopside and Quartz matrix.
Nice specimen of lustrous pale green Adamite crystals on both sides of a Limonite substrate.
Pretty cluster of clear, double terminated Red Apophyllite crystals with several accenting white Stilbite crystals. Actually prettier in person.
Vug or cavity of a chunk of Malachite lined with deep purple Azurite crystals.
Classic Bulgarian specimen of black Sphalerite covered with Quartz crystals and with some Galena, as well. In fine condition.
This is a terrific cluster of translucent apple green Fluorite crystals with a nice salting of fine golden Pyrite.
The word fluorite is derived from the Latin root fluo, meaning "to flow" because the mineral has a relatively low melting point and was used as an important flux in smelting. Fluorite gave its name to its constitutive element fluorine
A dense covering of dark red brown Andradite crystals on a light tan matrix. The crystals are large and sharp to 8mm with milky translucense. Some crystals have a strange pseudohexagonal structure.
Quite an unusual cluster of clear Quartz crystals with inclusions of Sulfur.
Metaphysical properties: Aragonite stimulates communication on a higher spiritual plane. It can aid in maintaining discipline, reliability and common sense with all matters one deals with. It is also helpful for easing stress and anger.
Aesthetic specimen of lustrous green Apophyllite crystals.
The name Apophyllite refers to a specific group of phyllosilicates, a class of minerals that also includes the micas. Originally, the group name referred to a specific mineral, but was redefined in 1978 to stand for a class of minerals of similar chemical makeup that comprise a solid solution series, and includes the members fluorapophyllite, hydroxyapophyllite, and natroapophyllite. The name Apophyllite is derived from the Greek apophylliso, meaning "it flakes off," a reference to this class's tendency flake apart when heated, due to water loss (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)..
Another nice combination Romanian specimen - golden Chalcopyrite, Quartz and Bournonite
The name baryte is derived from the Greek word βαρύς (heavy). In commerce, the mineral is sometimes referred to as "barytes." When the International Mineralogical Association formed in 1959 the American spelling "barite" was chosen as the official over the older "baryte". This decision was reversed in 1978 (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)..
Metaphysical properties: Hematite is a popular stone for easing stress and insomnia.
It is an excellent protection stone due to its reflective quality and its ability to “send” back any negativity to the person who has sent.
It also stimulates ease of obtaining love due to its reflecting quality. It is said that when one falls in love one merely falls in love with a reflection of oneself, therefore to wear the stone attracts kind love from others.
