Although I had an early interest in, and started to collect, mineral specimens when I was barely eighteen years old – my real passion for mineralogy and collecting arose later on due to another interest, i.e., mountaineering. In the early 70´s, during a countryside trip in the province of Leon, Spain, I came across an abandoned mine. I immediately concluded it had been a Copper mine due to the presence of Malachite, Azurite and, what stuck me the most – the presence of abundant and well formed crystals of Tyrolite.

Later, I graduated from the School of Mines, University of Oviedo, and earned a Doctorate in Mining Engineering. My doctorate studies of Lithium rich ores in Spanish pegmatites, further increased my interest in mineral collecting. I acquired specimens of diverse species from around the world, including South and North America, Asia, Africa and, of course, Europe. My collection, as expected, also included many fine minerals from the mines of Spain and Portugal.

Over the issuing years and my working in the mining industry, including a period in Peru, my collection grew to the point that I had little room left in my home in Oviedo, Spain to add anything else. After careful thought, I decided to sell the Collection, but not to give up collecting. My current collecting focus is to build a suite of fine specimens only from certain countries or deposits.

My hope is that the disbursement of the collection, which I acquired and enjoyed over many years finds its way, specimen by specimen, into the homes of other dedicated collectors, who will care for, and enjoy, them as much as I did.
